Winter reading: Winter’s Gifts
Winter’s Gifts is a seasonal option for a reader already exploring the wider series. FBI agent Kimberley Reynolds leads a Wisconsin case, so the snowy setting and different professional viewpoint give it a wintry identity without requiring a Christmas plot promise. It is a novella, which may suit a short holiday break. The Audible UK edition ↗ is voiced by Penelope Rawlins, rather than Holdbrook-Smith.
Because it is a companion story and not the beginning, it is a poor surprise for somebody whose only exposure is a vague interest in the title. Choose the first novel for that person. For an established fan, the change in narrator and setting is part of the appeal; a note in the gift saying why you chose this particular side case will do more work than wrapping paper alone.
