— Deadline reported that Sky Studios joined Pure Fiction’s development of an adaptation of the first novel. We found no later source confirming a finished series, cast or release date during the 27 September 2026 check. This reports the state of the sources consulted, not a guarantee that plans cannot change.
The earlier co-production announcement dates to 2022, not 2023: C21Media’s 6 July 2022 report names Pure Fiction Television and See-Saw Films; the contemporaneous Deadline report also names Aaronovitch’s Unnecessary Logo.
What that means
A producer or broadcaster developing a series may commission scripts, plan financing and explore casting before deciding whether to order production. Until filming or a formal series commission is announced, there is no finished programme or confirmed release date.
The current project was reported as a television adaptation of the first novel for Sky in the UK, with US buyer interest at the time. Fan casting and supposed trailers should be treated as speculation unless confirmed by the production partners.

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost’s production company announced that it had optioned the Peter Grant books for television. Ben Aaronovitch was expected to work on the first adaptation and serve as an executive producer.

John Jackson was named lead writer when a six-person, US-style writing team was reported in 2023. The reported team also included Kara Smith, Tolula Dada, Robin French, Tobi King Bakare and Joshua St. Johnston. Sky Studios joined the development in November 2024. These are writing and development credits, not evidence that filming or a series order has begun.
